There are still five baby Moorhens being looked after by three adults 
so they have all survived well so far. There were quite a lot of ducklings on the river this morning. One of the Mothers looked like the one on the nest in the photo below and the nest was empty, although I cannot be 100% sure these are the same Mallard, it does look like she has hatched quite a number of ducklings.
AMAZINGLY I was told by Mell that one of the Moorhens is sitting on 11 (ELEVEN) eggs, I have never seen that number before as 3-4-5 is usually the size. I did see a program on TV that showed a Moorhen laying her eggs in another Moorhens nest so I wonder if that has happened here ???
