It was cold this morning but I was cheered when I saw a Coot near the Mill, and when the Coot saw me he started to come towards me, so I think this is probably the same Coot as was here during 2008. He got what he was looking for – some food 
I didn’t see the Dabchick but will look out for him next time, everything else was as normal ie Monstrosity Bridge still not open and not even being worked on 
After the recent rains the water level was a bit higher than normal but hopefully not high enough for boats Oops I nearly forgot that I also had a close encounter with a Wren who was busy looking for insects on a tree trunk, its probably the closest I have ever been to a Wren for any length of time.
I have been photographing Redwings in my garden recently eating the berries on my Cotoneaster bush…
