Bl**dy Dog Owners, apparently over the week end 3 girls went down the Slea with a Labrador dog and it went into the river and went for the Coots and their nest, the Coots fled
Today the nest has been abandoned with at least one egg still in it, I do not know if it was infertile or abandoned because of the Dog
Further downstream I came across both Coot parents and 1 baby but what has happened to the other baby which had just about hatched on Friday
Its bad enough with dogs going for the wildlife in Term time but we have another 6 weeks where children will probably be told to ‘take the dog for a walk’ and the wildlife will no doubt suffer. Its not the Childrens fault or the Dogs it is the OWNERS that are responsible for their dogs actions. It makes me not want to walk down the river because of the incidents I have personally witnessed or been told about, and some people think wildlife on the Slea have it ‘easy’ – they just do not realise
