We now have at least one baby Dabchick 
It poked its head out from under mum this morning and there may have been others but I only saw the one We just have to hope that the work on resurfacing the path keeps away from this area for another week or so.
I was also told that there was in fact 2 Dabchick nests, after keeping a very careful eye out for this, Alan, Mel and myself came to the conclusion that there is in fact a third Dabchick but we all believe this to be a ‘singleton’ and not one half of a pair. The reason for this is that this morning one of the Dabchicks from our known nest was at the Hub and we followed it all the back up to the nest the other side of the Leisure Centre Bridge. It had to go past where the third Dabchick is known to be and none of us believe that it would have got past another Dabchick nest without a fight ensuing, thats our thought anyway.
The 2 adult Coots and the teenager were about 1 Km downstream of the Mill this morning, well past the railway bridge, I am not sure why they are there but lets hope they remain safe.
