Its months since I have seen a KINGFISHER along the Slea, but I saw one today
Still only the 4 Dabchick babies so perhaps that is the final count. All 4 were doing well but the workmen have now put up a barrier opposite the nest site so I might not be able to see them for a few days.
The Coots have started to nest downstream of the Mill and have at least one egg in the nest, this will be their third brood this year. From the first brood the teenager was near by but looks like he is not getting much attention from the adults, but he is able to look after himself anyway. The 2nd brood had 2 babies but they only lasted a couple of days and I am unsure what happened to them. The problem with where they are nesting now is that dogs do go in the water nearby, the nest is quite easily seen so I am hoping that dog owners see the nest and keep dogs away, we will just have to wait and see.
I only saw the 1 yellow duckling again today but will keep an eye out next time for them.
Here is just a pigeon in flight…
