I saw 4 baby Dabchicks this morning
and mum still wanted to sit on the nest so perhaps there is still another one to hatch.
Here is the first (very bad) photograph of one of the new arrivals with mum and dad…

…the workmen are getting nearer to the Dabchicks and when they get opposite it will mean I cannot get to see them for about a week, so I am hoping I can get some good photos of them on mums back before the work stops me.

Just back from my yearly trip to England.I motored down to Sleaford[and a quick trip into Norfolk], then up for a week in Cumbria.
I saw 3 yellow ducklings with a brood on the Slea, have they survived? It was wonderful to wander along your river, in fact all is lovely at this time of year. Thought I might see you ‘snapping’ along the river! Enid
PS. love the baby dab!
Hi Enid, It would have been very nice to bump into you along the Slea, perhaps next year. Glad you enjoyed your stay
I have seen 3 yellow ducklings in the last couple of days, and I will keep a special look out for them tomorrow and report back
