Still lots of ducklings but it is impossible to say which is in which family. I did only see 2 of the ‘larger’ ducklings when last time I saw them there were 3, hopefully the other one was around somewhere as they are now big enough to wander alone. I am really worried about ‘Lucky’ as I still have not seen him in over 2 weeks
but I did see ‘one eye’ but his bad eye looks quite bad now and is sunken, just hope its not painful for him, his demeanor does not look good either.
Heard a Woodpecker and then saw him near to the Mill and the Coot is still on the nest, however I have not seen any Dabchicks for over a week so I think they have flown. They did this at the same time last year but came back to breed, so I hope they do that again.
Although the ducklings seemed to be earlier than normal this year, the Moorhens are lagging behind a little as we had already had 2 Moorhen families by this time last year but this year non so far, most of the Moorhens (with 2 exceptions) do not seem to have started their nest yet.
