I saw the baby Moorhens today, all 3 of them
Not a very good photo but it shows one of them…

… I didnt see any Baby Coots as mum was still sitting on its nest and I assume it/they are there keeping warm.
I did see s Duckling below Cogglesford Weir on its own, I think it either came over the weir or was washed down the Mill ramp. I looked hard to see if I thought I could rescue it but it never went into a place that I thought I could get to it
I just hope he survives, at least the nights are not that cold now and Ducklings do feed themselves from day 1 so he has a chance but I think only a slim one
Terry
Hi again Terry,
I am fairly sure there is only one Coot chick, the nest was briefly exposed and I only saw the one chick – no sign of any other eggs. I did not see the Dabchick today so I expect it has flown elsewhere.
Regards
Hi Graham, thanks again for the update
I hope to see the baby tomorrow but I was hoping that there would be more than 1.
The only Dabchick I have seen in the last few weeks was the other day when one was on Lollycocks pond, I knew he wouldnt stay there as there are no fish because it has not been restocked yet (to my knowledge).
