Surprise surprise, they (?) have removed (chopped up) the tree that fell, about a week ago, across the Slea and footpath just past the Mill.
Nothing much happening today, I did see just the 1 Coot, 3 Dabchicks, One Eye (without his lady friend) and Lucky so I only missed Stiff Legs
Water Voles have just been given the same protection as Great Crested Newts have had for years because of their rapid decline in numbers, this means they have been given legal protection from PERSECUTION and DISTURBANCE, now all I have to do is photograph one just where the Navigation Trust plan to put their winding hole for boats – (evil grin)
Looking through some photographs from last year I came across this, which I have titled “I didnt lay this egg – honest – I am just keeping it warm”…

Hi Terry, I saw 4 Dabchicks today but more surprisingly early this afternoon I saw a large batch of Mallard ducklings near The Hub (out of the water with their mother). Also, less than 2 weeks ago I went beyond the A17 Road bridge by the river and saw a lone Dabchick which then did a fine disappearing trick as I approached.
Regards
Hi Graham, thanks for the info
Its very early for the Ducklings, I hope they survive but the weather is supposed to go down to freezing sometime around Easter
