WE now have what looks like a pair of Coots
They were both at Cogglesford this morning and then moved upstream to the reeds just short of the LC bridge, hopefully they will stay and bring up a family. Neither is very nervous and both come for food which indicates to me that either they have been on the Slea before, or they have been somewhere in close proximity to man.
…the wildlife on the Slea had to put up with another Canoeist today, and apparently there was also one on Sunday, disturbing the wildlife, I am hoping that this stops when the river level returns to normal as it is quite high at the moment. Its doesn’t matter too much at present but if this goes on into the nest building time then I fear that the Dabchicks may leave to nest somewhere more quiet, they will have a hard enough time finding a safe nesting place on our stretch of the Slea anyway, but with canoes coming close by then I feel they may will abandon the Slea
