Our lone duckling is growing well, you can see in this (bad) picture that he/she is getting rid of some of its downy feathers and replacing them with proper ones… …also saw 4 Dabchicks, stiff-legs and one-eye, but otherwise very quiet at the moment. Although the weather was bad today I just had to see if the lone duckling survived the last 2 cold nights and I am happy to say that he/she did No other news from the Slea because of the weather so I am once again going to get into my bad habit of showing...

No swans today but Kingfisher, 2 x Stonechats, Heron, Fieldfare, 3 x Dabchicks, lone duckling, robin/blackbird etc and this Chaffinch… …so it wasn’t a bad day  Hope the duckling survives the next 2 nights which are supposed to be below freezing ( I think he/she will   ) Terry

The swans were not around again and then they were   because all 3 of them flew right over us downstream of Cogglesford Mill and landed on the Slea. Also saw 4 Dabchicks and the lone duckling who does look a little lonesome as there are no other ducklings his/her size to go around...

Apparantly the swans were here yesterday but they were not around this morning. I did see the lone duckling and 4 Dabchicks but otherwise everything is a little quiet at the moment. Here is an unusual shot of a swan on the Slea a while ago… Terry
