The Ducklings looked cold this morning…

The Ducklings looked cold this morning, they were on the bank all huddled together. The night was cold but this morning there was cloud which meant the sun didn’t come out to warm them up. At least all 4 survived another night but I am a little worried that I didn’t see mum who still needs to make sure the ducklings are kept warm at night. I just hope mum doesn’t think her job has been done already as she is still needed very badly.

I saw 6 Dabchicks today and then went down past the Mill to look for the one I was told was down there yesterday and I found it :) Normally Dabchicks are quite nervous of people and keep their distance, we are lucky that the Slea is not very wide so any Dabchicks brought up on the Slea get very used to people and mainly just ignore their presence. This Dabchick was quite happy even when just inches away from the bank nearest to me, so I feel sure he/she has been on the Slea before, but more than that is impossible to say.

‘One Eye’, who has been at the Hub all through the Summer, seems to have decided to go back to the Cogglesford Mill area and has been there for a few days now. I mentioned ‘Stifflegs’ yesterday and that he could fly o.k. but his legs hang down, this is him flying a couple of years ago…stifflegs-flying.jpg
