An extra picture today as I liked the sunlight glinting on the water where our 4 remaining ducklings were paddling…

Alan and I were joined by Mel yesterday and walked downstream of Cogglesford Mill, on our way back we were told we looked like a scene from ‘Last of the Summer wine’. I don’t mind tooooooo much as long as I am not Compo
I think we have lost the little Moorhen past the Mill, not only has he not been seen for the last 2 days but mum and dad, when given food, just eat it and do not look around to try and feed the youngster as they normally wouldÂ
We saw 6 Dabchicks today, the seventh may have been hiding away, they are fighting a little to try and protect their territory, so we can just wait and see what happens.
Yesterday afternoon I only saw 4 of our 5 remaining ducklings so it looks like we have lost another one during the day, again the most likely reason to lose a duckling during the day if from people feeding the ducks without realising the danger they are putting the ducklings in. But 4 survived the night, so I am a little more hopeful that they may survive tonight as well.
Here is one of our ducklings today speeding along the river…
