I think we have lost another 2 ducklings 
leaving just 2. Yesterday I only saw 3 but thought I would check again today but found only 2 this morning. Its just possible that 1 was hiding somewhere but I am not hopeful. The nights have not been cold lately so that isn’t the reason, but why is a mystery ?
I also only saw 4 Dabchicks, but 2 could well have been hiding away as they seem to come out into the open more when its sunny, which it isn’t at the moment. I also didn’t see the one past the Mill.
The Water Rail is still around and here is a closer look at him/her, I still havnt got what I call a decent picture of him yet…

PS I am also a little worried about Merlin the Whooper swan (see top of page ‘Flights delayed due to bad weather’) as he is sitting 10 miles from the Scottish coast even after what must be 5-6 days at sea now
