I saw all 4 Dabchicks today so none of these 4 have left yet, this means that so far only 1 adult parent has left the Slea to go somewhere else for the winter. I also ‘found’ the 2 young Moorhens and parents that I didn’t see yesterday, who are normally between the Mill and the gate further down. Today they were a little bit further downstream, I would imagine because a lot of people let their dog go in the water between just downstream of the Mill. I also saw the 1 remaining Moorhen youngster near the LC.
No new photographs today either, so I thought I would show a close up of what our 4 baby Coots, that grew up on the Slea this year, looked like in the first few of weeks of hatching, I find then ‘ugly cuddly’ in a strange sort of way (if you know what I mean). This baby isn’t from the Slea but taken on a trip to the Dorset Abbotsbury Swannery earlier in the year…
