Good news and bad news… over the last 3 days I have only seen 1 of the 2 young Moorhens near the Leisure Centre and not seen any of the 2 that are also normally downstream of the Mill. The bad news is that I am now sure we have lost 1 from near the Leisure Centre as I have spent quite a while looking for the other 1 without any luck. Their nest, which was in the middle of the river, has also disappeared overnight, I think the high winds and rain are probably responsible, this is no problem and the parents have already built another so they still have a ‘home’. The good news is that I saw the 2 young Moorhens downstream of the Mill today 
so we have lost 1 and not the 3 I suspected.
Yesterday I also saw all 4 Dabchicks (1 youngster, 1 parent, 2 as a ‘pair’) , today I only saw 2 but I feel sure the other 2 were just hiding from the bad weather.
