Forget what I said in the previous post…

Forget what I said in the previous post, after watching the Dabchicks yesterday and today I now think there is now just 1 parent still around and the other 2 adults are most probably the pair that were attacked a couple of weeks ago. The youngster is still doing well.

Sadly I have not seen any of the ducklings over the last 2 days so I must now assume they have perished. I am also a little worried about the 2 baby Moorhens that are past the Mill, I have not seen them for a couple of days either, however they do have a lot of cover so hopefully I will see them again.

I saw this water vole also yesterday…

…although not a very regular sight, I now seem to be seeing these more often than all through the summer.  Kingfisher(s) have also been seen on a number of occasions downstream of the Mill.

My photo that will go into the Country File calendar (Whoopers at Sunset) was taken at Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands trust, just in case anyone is interested, you can monitor some Whooper swans on their migration to this country at…

…the swans have been fitted with transmitters so they can be tracked and more learnt about their journey, as soon as good numbers have reached Welney I will be off for the day to photograph them some more :)
