A little bit of self promotion… I entered 4 photos into the BBC Country File photo competition ‘All creatures great and small’. 12 pictures are selected to be voted on by the public, via their web site. I received a call from a very nice lady at Country File to discuss my ‘Whoopers at Sunset’ entry, so I thought I had perhaps done quite well… first the bad news … I was then told I had come 13th
so my picture will not be seen on TV today or voted on for first prize
… now the good news … their 2008 calendar will have 13 months and therefore my picture will be Jauuary 2009
This left me wondering why, if the calendar was to have 13 photos then why have a vote on the top 12 instead of top 13 ? The only reason I can think of is that perhaps originally the calendar was to have 12 photos and it was only decided AFTER the competition rules were announced that it was to have 13 months and not just 12 ??? Anyway, my thanks to the judges and here is my Country File Calendar ‘January 2009′ photo of Whooper swans at sunset, taken a Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust…

Well done, Terry. Must try to get that calendar. I did wonder if you had thought of doing a Life on the Slea calendar, but it might be a bit time consuming. Let me know if you ever do though! enid

Thanks Enid for your kind words
I did do a small booklet just for personal experience, there are only 2 in the world
But just in case anyone is interested I will leave a link here for a couple of days so it can be downloaded (minus the cover), its in low resolution to reduce the file size (5MB) which means the photos are very low quality and even some colours are distorted.
LINK NOW REMOVED
Its a PDF so for anyone who has not got Adobe Acrobat installed (its free) you can get it…

Super picture and if the calendar has pictures all as good as yours I’ll be looking out for it! Would have loved to see your other 3 entries. I’ve already has a sneak preview of your book previously – and adore the swans. But they weren’t in your gallery to purchase copies. Would also be interested in purchasing kingfisher photo for dad (known as Alan)but don’t tell him! Keep up the good work myself and C love catching up with it all.
Hi Angie, thanks for the comments, most appreciated, I wont put this comment on the front page as I usually do because I know Alan sometimes gets to know what is on here (from C
) I wish I had a decent picture of a Kingfisher but they have eluded me so far, but if I ever get one I will let you know
If there is any particular photo from the booklet let me know and I will see what I can do
