One of the Dabchicks…
One of the Dabchicks seemed to be looking for a replacement nest/rest site downstream of Quackers, I hope he/she doesn’t go much further downstream as they will come up against the new pair of Dabchicks. I have only seen one of these ‘new’ pair of Dabchicks over the last couple of days so I am hoping that the other one is at the back of the reeds sitting on some eggs
Alan saw a Kingfisher the other day, this was a common sight last year but a little elusive recently.
There appears to be the 2 adult coots and just one of the youngsters remaining. The first hatch was around 24 May, so adding the 50 days until they can fly, now is around the time the youngsters would be looking to leave, so I think 3 youngsters have probably left to make their own way in life. It will be interesting to see how long the last one stays.
