I am not sure what is happening with the Dabchicks ? They *seem* to be looking at a new nest site just a few yards downstream from where they were building a nest the other day. If (and its a BIG if at the moment) they are that will be a big plus for them as they will be slightly further away from the New Street bridge (see post below) and also where they were, sometimes gets a little noisy and bins have been know to be thrown in the river there and once even a settee, so they will also be a little further away from that danger. Only time will tell if they really are looking for a new nest site or not ???
This afternoon I also saw a male and female Tufted Duck and hoped they would also find somewhere to nest, but they eventually flew off, but they may be back – who knows, we can only hope.
We have not had Swans on this stretch of the Slea for a couple of years now, I personally think it is because there is nowhere between the Hub and Cogglesford Mill where they can get in and out the river easily and also where no people or dogs go. I heard about a family of Swans near Billinghay so todays photo is of them..
