I saw this on the banks of the Slea this afternoon…
…ok, its a VERY BAD photo of a STOAT. I saw it at Cogglesford bend near to where we have recently lost the 2 baby Coots and 1 baby Moorhen, so I wonder if this is the culprit ? I cant quite bring myself to believe that the Stoat is also responsible for the male coot and mallard drakes death because from what little I know about stoats (and it is only a ‘little’) it seemes doubtful whether a Stoat would leave its prey in the river as happened on both of these counts. It would more likely take it ‘home’ and store it if not needed straight away, but I stand to be corrected on this one ?
