Interesting...

Today I went downstream past the weir from Cogglesford Mill. You may (or may not) remember that in the summer 1 of the young dabchicks went over the weir and couldnt get back, I tried to rescue it without any luck, anyway today I saw a small dabchick just down from the weir so I am hoping (but will never be sure) that the dabchick that went over the weir survived :) :) :) I also saw 4 above the weir between Cogglesford and the Hub...

Not much happening...

Not much happening on the Slea at the moment, the Swans are away again but will probably be back, the coot, dabchicks, moorhens and Red Crested Pochard are all still here also.

Not much happening

Not much happening on the Slea lately, the swans have been away for a few days but got back yesterday, the dabchicks (aka little grebes) are still quite happy wandering up and down as are the moorhens, coot and mallards, the Red Crested Pochard is also still at the Hub.

Dabchick yesterday...

There are 5...

For a little while I have thought there were 5 Dabchicks (aka Little Grebe) but only saw 4 at any one time (if I was lucky), this afternoon I actually saw 5. I believe these are 5 of the 6 little ones that were brought up on the Slea this year, there were originally 6 but I know one went over the weir at Cogglesford Mill as I got very wet trying to rescue it from the water coming over the weir without any luck. Hopefully this one went further downstream and survived but I obviously don't actually know what happened to it.
