Then there were more...

We still have the 5 baby Moorhens but there is another family also with at least another 2 babies who are still too small/young to come out of their nest, we should see them on the water in the next few days.

Plenty of ducklings but the Coot still havnt had their babies yet.

Todays Duckling...

Now 5.....

There are now 5 different duckling families so this is the time I try and not count them as we are almost bound to lose some most days :(

I saw the 5 remaining baby Moorhens and they seem to be doing well, however I also found the 'sixth' baby which is dead in the nest so at least it wasn't got by a predator.

Also saw 1 Dabchick and it cant be long before we have baby coots ?

One of todays new duckling families...

Bad news and then some good...

I could only see 5 baby Moorhens today so we may well have lost 1, I also only saw 10 ducklings so it looks like we have lost 3 of them :( There was good news in that there was another duckling family with 8 ducklings, just hope we dont lose any more tonight.

Still 6m's and 13 d's + strange behaviour...

We still have 13 ducklings and 6 baby Moorhens so both families are doing well, lets hope that continues.

The male Coot is behaving oddly to me, while his mate is sitting on the nest he is building another and giving the Moorhen pair that are in the same area a lot of hassle (not the Moorhens with the babies at the moment who are on the other side of the female nesting Coot) - why ???

One from the archives, from april last year...

All survived the night...

All 6 baby Moorhens and 13 ducklings survived the night, I think the first couple of weeks are the most dangerous to the little ones.

Oi be careful where you are driving...

Still 6....

There are still 6 baby Moorhens, so they all survived the night :) There are now also a family of 13 ducklings near the Hub, lets hope they all survive also (hopefully a photo later). I also saw 4 Coots and 1 Dabchick.

LATER: I just managed to get all the ducklings and mum in the picture...
